DSWA/LANTRA Examination Day!

Level 1 entrants John, Dan and Chris get stuck into stripping and re-building 2.5 sq metres of Dry Stone Wall

On Saturday we held DSWA examinations at our examination site at Hoylandswaine, South Yorkshire. We had 6 eager souls taking their DSWA/LANTRA Examinations - 3 Level 1 entrants, one Level 2 and two entrants for Advanced.

Luckily, and probably due to the high winds, we escaped without getting wet - until we adjourned to the pub that is!

Don measures up for his cheek-end stone as part of his Level 2 exam

Examiners Peter and Alan scrutinise the work of Advanced entrants, Owen and Gary

John, Dan and Chris nearly at wall height

Three qualified Level 1 Dry Stone Wallers! L to R: Chris, Dan and John

One very happy Level 2 Dry Stone Waller - Don Jones!

Two exhausted Advanced Dry Stone Wallers - Owen and Gary.
Note that Owen is that confident of his wall that he's actually leaning on it!!

The standard of walling under exam conditions was some of the best I’ve seen so far. Congratulations to all entrants who, I'm very pleased to say, all passed! Well done!

The end of a great day and the prospect of a well earned pint looms!

L to R: Alan, Gary, Dave and Owen

Thanks to the entrants, John, Dave, Alan and Les for their helping hands and examiners Alan and Peter.
